When Garden Perfection Can Sometimes Be Too Much

Hearing my neighbours and their family enjoying greatly the very bright and hot sunshine this last weekend reminded me of a few years ago when a previous family lived next door.  They had two small daughters and the garden was immaculate – one of the couple had relatives in the garden centre trade and so their little spot of green  was transformed into a mini Chelsea garden!  There were some fabulous shrubs – very exotic and all falling into a superb colour palette.  Nothing was left ot chance, all the shrubs were set to compliment each other.  The spring and summer flowering bulbs were also a triumph every year – stunning displays all in the correct colour formation.

The only trouble was, it was so perfect, there was no room for the children to play, no room for any garden furniture and no room for cocktails on the patio – it was all for show but not to use.
