Oak is a rarely found species found in United States. Generally an oak tree is of two types i.e. red and white. However white grain is more reliable and preferable than red oak.
White oak is durable and hard than red oak and this is the reason why it is used for building ships. It is resistant to extreme climatic conditions and can retain its structure at any temperature. Red oak on the other hand is used for making road tiles, wagon wheels and concrete hardwood flooring.
